Heriz Rugs

Heriz rugs, a highly sought after type of Persian rug, can be found at Aviram Aziz, Inc, the ultimate source for Antique and Decorative Rugs.  These exquisite and beautiful textiles are named for the city of Heris, a cultural and robust city located in East Azerbaijan in the northwest of Iran.  In fact, the rugs are known for their beauty and durability, often lasting for generations and generations.  Why are these rugs so strong and resilient?  Interestingly, the villages dotting the slopes of Mount Salaban are where the craftsmen hailed from.  The soil in this region is very high in copper.  This leads to a higher amount of copper within the wooly coats of the sheep that graze here.  The copper within the wool results in increased durability.
Heriz rugs classically contain a large central medallion with a surrounding geometric bold pattern.  The background is often a deep reddish hue with a blue border and white corner spandrels.  These hand woven masterpieces often have heavier knot counts than other rugs from this region.   The central medallion may vary in size and shape.  Occasionally blue is present in the center but typically dark reddish or tannish hues dominate this central focus.
Persian and Oriental rugs are very popular with interior decorators and homeowners for their beauty, individuality and bold colors.   They can be paired with many different types of furniture and looks.  In fact, these rugs are so versatile that they can be moved from space to space as your tastes and needs change.  In addition, the heavy wool pile is both soft and luxurious as well as practical in providing warmth and trapping heat.  Heriz rugs are one of many types of antique oriental rugs available at Aviram Aziz Inc.  We are proud to carry a large selection of antique rugs including Persian, Indian, Turkish, Caucasian, Chinese and European rugs.  No matter what you are in the market for, one of our experts is here to find you just what you are looking for and to verify the rugs origins.
Heriz rugs are often described as represent furnishing rather than art.  This is likely due to their durability from being woven using strong wool pile and being able to withstand years of hard use.  However, like many antique oriental rugs, the design is in of itself a piece of unique and beautiful artwork.  Aviram Aziz, Inc has a wide selection of antique carpets that vary in size from small throw rugs for your nooks and crannies to large oversized carpets to cover your grandest room.  The selection is diverse and specifically covers Aubussons, Heriz and Serapi, Lavar and Kerman, Sarouk, Sultanbad, Tabriz, Oushak and Tapestries.
Whether you are in the market for a specific rug from a region or are trying to fill a specific need, our experts at Aviram Aziz, Inc are here to help you select the right antique rug to meet your needs.  Heriz rugs are known world-wide for their bold colors, superb quality and durability-sure to be a welcome addition to your collection and to last for many generations to come.
