Mahal rugs are antique Iranian rugs. The best thing about these rugs is that all of them are unique in design. They are decorative and used for different purposes other than the display. Their unique design makes them one of their kinds. You can find them in curvilinear and tribal motifs. They come in different colors and textures. You can have them in thick or thin textures. Their edges are designed with different colorful patterns to assure you the look of sophistication. Design of these rugs are usually influenced by Shah the carpets of Abbas period. These are lustrous and soft, mostly made of wool.

Mahallat is the area near Arak in central Iran. Mahal rugs are linked back to Mahallat. These are generally hand weaved. They have achieved such an enduring success due to their unique design and high quality. From the 19th century, these rugs are being designed for the European market. At that time, all the rugs were made from exclusive natural dyes. Some of the typical colors were gold, blue, soft green and ivory. The wool had been used in these rugs in usually hand spun.
We have got great variety of Turkish, Indian, Chinese, Persian, European and Caucasian Rugs which vary in sizes from spread to oversize, Sarouk, sultanabad, Tabriz, oushak and tapestries.  Asymmetrical Turkish knots are used in these rugs. Although, these are loose knots, rugs are very durable and their structure is very strong. Mostly small, bold and repeated floral patterns are designed on these rugs.

Now a days, dark red and khaki are used as main colors in Mahal rugs. Their texture is usually double weft. Before you buy them, make sure of the quality. Quality of rug is checked by its number of knots. Number of knots vary in different rugs but usually is around 120 KPSI. “Ziegler Sultanabad” is its new improved form. Ziegler is considered favorite for many interior designers. They were named after Ziegler & CO. of Manchester, England. In 1870’s, this company started to export these rugs to England and took commission.

Our carpets are focused in Aubussons, laver and Kerman.  Mahal rugs are preferred by most of our customers due to their original design.
