Oushak Rugs have their origin from a small town called Oushak in the west central Anatolia, near Istanbul, Turkey. They have gained popularity over the years and over the generations, they have had many changes in the design, but the originality still remains. This is what makes them so popular over so many centuries.
The distinctive style and color of Oushak Rugs include shades of orange color. Some of the most popular shades are salmon, coral, cinnabar, etc. These shades are combined with hues of maroon, blue and red. This color combination makes them very attractive and unique. The motifs are generally of varied colors which include browns, blues, yellow, green, black and ivory. The base is made of wool and the use of symmetrical knot for structure is in abundance.
The rugs available at Aviram Aziz Inc., are very much in demand, especially the antique pieces. They are widely sold in auctions and are very much in demand. The antique rugs are made from 100% wool. The sixteenth to eighteenth century saw a boom in the production of these types of rugs as they were very much in demand. The interior designers are always on the lookout for the antiques rugs as they offer a great value and are in demand a lot.
The Persian influence on the Oushak Rugs cannot be denied. The geometric motifs and the niche design makes then very popular. They are mostly hand knotted and carry the rough effect. This makes them very popular as handmade products are always very much in demand. Because of the use of primitive looms, the size is limited from small the mid-size, though large rugs can also be found as they are handmade. They are usually double knotted which increases the durability of the rugs.
The base foundation of the rug is cotton and the knots are of wool. This not only gives great texture and style to the rug, it also provides warmth and comfort to the user. The durability also increases and wool is a very sturdy material. The designs are very versatile and colorful. They add to the liveliness of the room and cheer to the atmosphere.
The attractive tribal design adds to the attraction. They have versatile uses as throw rugs, mats, floor coverings, etc. One can use their imagination and put them to versatile uses like wall hangings, door curtains, table cloth, etc. The imagination of the user is what limits the uses.
Though the origin of Oushak Rugs, dates back centuries ago, they are still very much in fashion as they add to the décor of the room and are also very comfortable.
